About Ronny Tome
Ronny Tome doesn’t just work in FinTech, he lives in it, surrounds himself with it, and is working to develop and further it as a whole. He is the co-founder of the Ducatus group of businesses based in Singapore and is behind the launch of the commercially-driven cryptocurrency, Ducatus Coin (DUC).
After graduating from the University of Cologne in 1995, Ronny Tome moved to Bali, Indonesia where he began building an impressive entrepreneurial career. Over the past two decades, while living in Bali, Ronny has gained tremendous business experience and acumen that have helped create the entrepreneur and head of Ducatus we see today.
For the first few years he lived in Bali, Ronny worked as a sales and marketing agent in Indonesia, where he also served as an export agent for curated wares to the United States, Holland, and Germany.
From 1998 to 2006, Ronny gained experience as an entrepreneur through several of his own businesses. He founded and owned a sales and marketing company for holiday ownership in two clubs in Bali. He also founded businesses where he became the sole importer and distributor of three different Austria and Germany-based beverages to five-star resorts and hotels in Indonesia. Then, in 2004, Ronny gained experienced in franchising as a Master Franchisee for a German coffee house concept. That same year, he was also a business partner for Vita-life, whose products he sold in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Then, in 2006, he founded Teateria, a teahouse franchise in Bali. Later that year, he and Mario Hintermayer co-founded Bali Permata Indah — where he also served as President — and Ronny developed and managed the Square 9 mini-mall complex in Seminyak. He then ventured into the property business and developed various high-end properties in Bali.
Then, in 2014, Ronny Tome made history over a US-$750,00 bitcoin transaction. Ronny sold a villa in Bali for an amount of Bitcoins worth $750,000, marking the first-ever cryptocurrency real estate transaction and the largest Bitcoin transaction ever executed at that time — a record he held for 18 months. Two years later, Ronny founded Ducatus Global and the Ducatus group of companies in Singapore and began establishing his own mark in cryptocurrency.
When founding Ducatus, Ronny and the entire team wanted to fix a problem they’d long seen with cryptocurrency: rather than being focused on risky speculation only with potential big gains or losses for the early investors, Ducatus is operated by a business with a long term vision and a professional team driven by usability and propelled forward by focused strategy and careful execution. At Ducatus, we’re dedicated to seeing cryptocurrency, like DUC, gain a more mainstream embrace and be used in all of life’s transactions from buying a coffee to even buying a house. To help with the transition, Ronny developed the suite of Ducatus businesses — including Ducatus Health, Ducatus Travel, Ducatus Properties and Ducatus Cafe — that operate cashless using cryptocurrencies. Ronny Tome is a well-rounded traveler who speaks fluent German, English, and Indonesian. Originally from Germany, he has been a resident of Bali since 1995.
